Business Driver Definitions

Use this reference to understand the metrics and groupings used to calculate labor standards and track hotel performance.

The Context

These settings are found under Settings > Standards/Business Drivers > Business Driver Setup. They determine what data your Night Auditor enters in Night Audit Entry and what your Labor Plan use to calculate target hours.

The Data

Item Type	Definition	Examples	Usage
Business Driver	A single data point tracking a specific revenue stream or volume count.	Rooms Sold, Breakfast Covers, Spa Revenue	Used for specific position standards (e.g., 1 Server per 20 Covers).
Business Driver Group	A calculated sum of multiple Business Drivers created in Business Driver Setup.	Total F&B Revenue (Food Rev + Bev Rev)	Used when a position supports multiple outlets or revenue streams.
RevSync Driver	A Driver mapped to a 3rd party system (like ProfitSword) to receive data automatically.	Auto-Populated Rooms Sold	Eliminates manual entry in Night Audit Entry.
Occupancy %	The percentage of rooms occupied, calculated automatically by the system.	85% Occupancy	Used for fixed positions that scale only during high volume.

Limits

• Format: Drivers must be defined as either Currency (Financial values) or Number (Counts/Volume).
• Status: Inactive drivers cannot be used in Labor Plan calculations. If a plan uses an inactive driver, the system will generate a "No Active Drivers" error.

Modification: Changing a driver's name or type is found under Settings > Business Driver Setup
