A big part of Time & Attendance is ensuring employees can clock in and out successfully. As a manager, you should be familiar with the clock your employees use, as well as the process of clocking in and out.
Finger Scan Z34 Details
The Finger Scan Z34 time clock is connected via an ethernet cable (internet line).
The punch details transmit in real time throughout the day automatically. To manually transmit punches anytime you think items have not come through, press 9 on the clock.
If the internet is ever out at the hotel, the clock will store the punch details until it is able to connect again.
Biometric clocks, like finger print clocks, are ideal for properties that have concerns about employees punching for each other. Before employees are able to clock in and out with their finger print, they must be enrolled by a manager on the clock.
Employee Process
There are two tasks employees typically engage in when punching:
- Identifying who they are, and
- entering the position code they’re working that shift.
Clocking In and Out
- Press ‘1’ to clock in or ‘2’ to clock out
- Scan your fingerprint that was enrolled on the clock
- If prompted, input your login ID
- Press 'OK'
- If prompted, enter the position code
- Press 'OK'
After a successful punch, the screen should read "SUCCESSFUL" along with a timestamp of the action.
Note - If configured, employees may use the "4" and "5" keys to clock in and out instead. These keys allow employees to enter extra information, like tips. This is only if configured for your hotel by our Customer Success team.
The PIN and employee position codes are created and stored inside Employee Manager.
Employee Manager is located within Hotel Effectiveness
To Access the Employee Manager, follow these steps:
1. Login to Hotel Effectiveness
2. Click “Employees" from the left navigation menu
3. Click on "Employee Manager" from the blue menu
To locate the Employee Login ID
1. In the drop down selection, click on "Employee Explorer"
2. On the "Employee Explorer" page, find the employee to view
3. Click on the View/Edit link in the “Actions” column.
4. Next in the Employee Viewer, click edit or look for "Punch PIN/Webclock"
5. The "Punch PIN/Webclock" is the Login ID for hourly clock associates
To locate Individual Employee Position Codes
1. In the drop down selection, click on "Employee Explorer"
2. On the "Employee Explorer" page, find the employee to view
3. Click on the" View/Edit" link in the “Actions” column.
4. Next in "Employee Viewer", look in the “Profile Position 1 (Home)”, “Profile Position 2”, “Profile Position 3” and the “Extra Positions Assigned” fields.

A Timeclock Position Codes Page customized for your hotel is available for download in Hotel Effectiveness. Your actions are required as follows:
1. PRINT your customized Timeclock Position Codes
- Select Time & Attendance from the left main menu in Hotel Effectiveness
- Select View/Download Timeclock Position Codes on the top menu
- Select your hotel in the hotel dropdown menu
- Click on View Position Codes in Spanish on the upper right of the page to toggle between English and Spanish
- Click on the Adobe icon or the Excel icon to select the format of the report
- Open the file directly or save it to your computer (your browser settings will dictate what choices you have)
- Send the file to print in your local printer
