Use this workflow to compare your hotel’s labor productivity against similar hotels in your brand or industry segment to identify improvement opportunities.
Before you begin...
• Requires "Access Benchmarker Reports" permissions.
• Requires "See Wages" and No Department Filters enabled on your user profile.
• Data is published monthly around the 20th for the previous month.
1. Access Benchmarker
- Select Reports from the left navigation menu.
- Hover over the Benchmarker tab in the blue menu bar.
- Select a report (e.g., Productivity Benchmark or Position Hours POR).
2. Select Benchmark Parameters
- Hotel/Group: Select the specific hotel or portfolio group you wish to analyze.
- Date Range: Select the specific month (reports are monthly).
Note: Reports are available only for the most recently published month and history.
3. Analyze Performance Indicators
1. Review the Variance columns.
- Green: Your hotel is performing 10% or more better (under) the industry benchmark.
- Red: Your hotel is performing 10% or more worse (over) the industry benchmark.
- Yellow/Neutral: Your hotel is within the standard range.
2. Compare specific metrics:
- MPR (Minutes Per Room): For Housekeeping and Laundry efficiency.
- Hours POR: Hours worked per 100 occupied rooms for other positions.
4. Drill Down
- If viewing a Portfolio report, click on a hotel name to drill down into that specific property's department details.
- If viewing a Hotel report, review the position-level breakdown to see exactly which role is causing the variance.
The Result Success: You identify specific positions (e.g., Room Attendant, Front Desk Agent) that are running higher labor hours than the brand average, allowing you to adjust Labor Standards or scheduling practices.
If this fails...
• Note: If a hotel is not listed or shows "Not Eligible," it failed one of the data quality filters (e.g., missing revenue or labor data) for that month.
