Position Reporting Guide

Applies to: Corporate Managers, Hotel Managers

Monitoring staffing levels and actual hours worked for each position is an important part of labor management. With this in mind, Hotel Effectiveness has an assortment of tools to help provide a snapshot of your labor by position or department so that you can easily pinpoint where your hours and money are being spent.

1. Monitoring through Automated Email Alerts

Alert Name	Purpose
Spotlight Rooms Positions - POR MTD (Group)	Overview of Rooms positions metrics across all hotels in your custom hotel groups.
Spotlight F&B Positions - Labor Cost % MTD (Group)	Overview of F&B position metrics across all hotels in your custom hotel groups.

2. Regular Review of Portfolio/Group-level Reports 

Report Name	Purpose
Position Comparison: Last 7 Days (Group)	Overview of actual hours vs plan hours of last 7 days across all hotels in your custom hotel groups.
Position Comparison: 8 Week Trend (Group)	Overview of actual hours vs plan hours for trailing 8 weeks across all hotels in your custom hotel groups.
Position Comparison: MTD (Group)	Overview of month-to-date actual hours vs plan hours across all hotels in your custom hotel groups.

3. Drilling Down into Position Details by Hotel

Report Name	Purpose
Position Win-Loss  New	An easy way to compare actual wages and hours worked with plan wages and hours by position or department.
Position Details: Week	This report provides a summary of week-to-date view of position details. You can select to view actual hours, plan hours, or the variance.
Position Hours POR	This report provides a benchmark so that you can compare your hours per 100 rooms sold for each position or department against your competitive set.

There are other position alerts and reports that you can explore, such as:

• Labor Flash Position Details 
• Position Details - Last Week (if Unfavorable) 
• Position Details - Last Week (Send Always)

Pro Tip

Reports are permission based. If you are unable to access some of the reports mentioned above, it is likely that you don't have the permission to see wages or your access is filtered by department.

1. Monitoring through Automated Email Alerts

Alert Name	Purpose
Labor Flash Position Details	Overview of key labor metrics by position.
Position Details - Last Week (if Unfavorable)	Overview of actual hours vs. plan hours for all positions within your hotel. This alert will only be sent if you have any positions over plan hours.
Position Profitability - Combo MTD	Overview of MTD labor cost % and cost per occupied room metrics.

Email alerts are permission based. If you don't have permission to certain alerts, they will appear under this area in the email alert subscription center.

Position with No Actuals	Use this report to find positions with a labor plan but no actual hours worked.
Position with No Plans	Use this report to find positions accruing actual hours worked but missing an allocated labor plan.
