You have the ability to control access to your Webclock. This ensures that employees can only clock in and out from the designated Webclock computer in your hotel. To prevent your employees from clocking in and out from other locations (i.e. mobile phones or at home), please save the public IP address that your Webclock computer is using to access the internet inside of Settings.
A. Selecting a Computer Location
The very first step in setting up your Webclock is to select the location of the computer that you will use. This is typically in the break room, near housekeeping or in the back office. You need to ensure the computer designated for the Webclock has access to the internet. Next, you need to create a bookmark in your internet browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox) for the Web Clock login screen.
B. Set up the Webclock Security
- Log in to Hotel Effectiveness
- On the upper-left of the screen, hover over your Username
- Select Settings
- Under Time & Attendance, select Webclock IP Security Filters
- Select Add New to add a new IP address
- Select Delete to remove an IP address that is no longer in use
If your hotel shares employees across locations, it is possible that you may see the IP addresses in use at those sister hotels.
Note: Any changes with Time & Attendance can take up to one business day to take effect.
Webclock IP Security Filters
The Webclock IP Security Filters page details all IP addresses currently in use by each hotel for Webclock security. Only hotels using Webclock and Hotel Effectiveness Time & Attendance will have IP addresses listed here. Leaving the IP filter blank will allow webclock enabled employees to clock IN from anywhere.
One of the easiest ways to locate your IP address is to go to your Webclock computer and navigate to http://www.whatismyip.com. At the top of the page, you will see "Your IP Address Is: 000.000.000.000" (filled in with your actual IP address). Copy and paste this number into the Add New pop up. Our Support Team will register the IP address after it is saved.
Common Webclock Problems
- The Public IP you sent us has changed and our security is blocking your new IP. This happens when you change ISP's (Internet Services), have network upgrades or change routers/network infrastructure. To resolve, find the new Public IP address and send this to our Support Team so we can update it in the security settings.
- My employees can't punch in correctly. The password on the Webclock is case sensitive. This means that if the Web Password from the employee's profile has a mix of upper and lower case letters, then the employee must enter those each time when clocking in and out.
